Body & health

When your body needs care, your feelings deserve attention too.

Individual hypnosis for the emotional side of physical symptoms and medical experiences: the tension around headaches, the anticipation of an allergic reaction, or fear before surgery.

You can begin with a situation in which you want to respond differently. On the discovery call, we can explore where to start.

Living with allergic reactions

“Before I accept an invitation, I am already wondering how my body will react.”

Alongside the symptoms, there may be apprehension, constant monitoring, and frustration about what you miss. We can work with that experience and what you would like to feel differently. Your allergy treatment and precautions continue alongside this work.

Headaches, tension, and the rest of your day

“Even on a good day, part of me is waiting for the headache.”

You may notice tension building under pressure, or find that anticipating discomfort takes over your attention. We explore the sensations, emotions, and expectations around that experience, using hypnosis to work toward greater ease.

Preparing for surgery or a procedure

“I have the information. I still cannot stop imagining the worst.”

An upcoming operation, dental treatment, or medical procedure can bring fear of pain, loss of control, or a difficult previous experience back into focus. We can work with those reactions and rehearse meeting the experience more calmly, asking for what you need, and accepting support.

Room to work with how it feels

A physical condition can have an emotional side without being caused by your emotions. Fear, frustration, tension, and anticipation are experiences we can work with. Hypnosis offers a way to explore them through attention, imagery, and your bodily experience.

Where hypnosis may fit

What we can work toward

  • Spend less of the day anticipating discomfort.
  • Find more ease around a familiar bodily reaction.
  • Approach a procedure with greater calm and a clearer sense of what you need.

These are possible goals. We agree on your task and signs of progress individually.

How we work

Begin with a conversation

On a free 20-minute call, we discuss your situation, the changes you want, and your questions about hypnosis. If we decide to work together, we agree on the scope, pace, and fee.

Work with the response

We identify the specific reaction and use hypnosis to work with the feelings, sensations, and underlying emotional pattern connected to it.

Notice what changes

We look at what is changing in your experience and everyday life. We return to your goals and adjust the direction of the work when needed.

Work shaped around what you need

You may have a particular reaction in mind, or a pattern that runs through several parts of your life. We use hypnosis to work with what keeps it in place and help you find more freedom in how you respond. The focus and pace grow out of your situation.

Working together

Questions you may have

Do I have to believe my symptoms are psychological?

No. We begin with your experience, including the emotional part of living with a physical condition. You do not need to adopt a theory about why the condition exists.

Can this fit around my medical care?

Yes. Tell me about your condition, current care, and any upcoming procedure. We work alongside that care. New or unexplained symptoms should be assessed by your clinician.

What should I bring to the discovery call?

The condition or procedure you have in mind, what feels difficult about it, and what you would like to feel differently. If there is a date coming up, mention that too.

Begin with a conversation

What would you like to feel differently?

Let’s take 20 minutes to talk about what brings you here, what you want to change, and whether working together feels right.
