Discuss your birth preparation

What comes to mind when you picture the birth?

You have read the books, but the thought of labour still brings a rush of fear.

You worry about pain, losing control, or not being heard when you need help.

A previous birth or medical experience is shaping how you imagine this one.

You want to feel prepared even if the plan needs to change.

Knowing what might happen and feeling ready for it are different things. More information does not always settle the image that keeps returning in your mind. We can give that particular fear some focused attention before the day arrives.

Prepare for the moments that matter to you

Perhaps it is the first contraction, arriving at the hospital, a planned caesarean, or hearing that something needs to change. We identify the moment that carries the most tension and work with your response to it through hypnosis.

The session can include guided relaxation, imagery, and mental rehearsal of asking for support, staying present, and returning your attention to the next manageable step. The aim is a steadier way of meeting the experience, with room for your preferences and the care you may need.

You do not have to feel fearless to feel better prepared.

Preparation shaped around your concerns

We discuss what you are looking forward to, what worries you, and any experience you want me to understand. Then we choose a specific focus for the hypnotic work. We can also practise a simple way to return to a calmer state between sessions and discuss how it fits with your existing birth preparation.

I bring medical training and an analytical approach to a very personal experience. I want to understand what makes birth feel difficult for you, rather than ask you to adopt someone else’s idea of the perfect birth.

More about me

You might be wondering

Can I do this if I plan an epidural or a caesarean?

Yes. Emotional preparation can be shaped around your planned care. You can practise feeling steadier, communicating your needs, and responding to changes whatever your preferences for birth and pain relief.

Is this a full antenatal or hypnobirthing course?

This is individual work with your particular fears and reactions. It can sit alongside antenatal classes or a hypnobirthing course, especially when there is something personal you want more time to address.

What if a previous birth was difficult?

Tell me as much as you feel comfortable sharing. We can discuss a manageable focus without requiring you to recount everything. If the experience is still overwhelming, we can also discuss specialist perinatal support.

Which part of the birth would you like to feel calmer about?

Tell me roughly when you are due and what is on your mind. We can choose a starting point together.

This is emotional preparation alongside your maternity care. It does not promise a painless birth or a particular delivery; medical decisions and pain relief remain with you and your maternity team.
